Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Steamed rice, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Start by marinating the beef. In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of the cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil. Mix well and set aside for at least 10 minutes. This helps to tenderize the beef and infuse it with flavor.
- In a small bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch, beef broth, and brown sugar. This will be the sauce; set it aside.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until bright green and just tender. If needed, add a splash of water to help steam the broccoli and speed up the cooking process.
- Return the beef to the skillet along with the sauce mixture. Stir everything together and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli nicely.
- Add the sliced green onions and stir them in, cooking for an additional 1 minute. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over steamed rice if desired. Enjoy your meal!
