Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, peeled and grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 12 oz spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook while stirring for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- 2. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the pot. Break it up with a wooden spoon and cook until browned all over, about 8 minutes.
- 3. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- 4. Add the dried oregano and basil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- 5. Stir in the milk and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. This will give the sauce a creamy texture. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- 6. Break the spaghetti in half and add it directly to the pot. If the pot is too dry, add a little more beef stock or water. Stir well until the spaghetti is submerged in the sauce.
- 7. Cover the pot and let the spaghetti cook in the sauce for about 10-12 minutes, or until al dente. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and to prevent sticking.
- 8. Serve your One-Pot Bolognese topped with grated Parmesan cheese and garnished with fresh basil leaves, if using. Enjoy!
