Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs. Aim for uniform sizes to ensure even cooking.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in a single layer. Cook, turning occasionally, until all sides are browned, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, flour, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce until smooth. Pour the mixture over the onions in the skillet.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Finish by adding the butter to the skillet, stirring to melt and combine into the sauce.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Pair with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for a complete meal.
