Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of asparagus (about 12 spears)
  • 12 slices of thin-cut bacon
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the asparagus by washing and trimming the woody ends. Each spear should be about the same length after trimming.
  2. Wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of bacon. Start at the bottom and spiral the bacon around until you reach the tip.
  3. Plug in your Instant Pot and press the ‘Sauté’ function. Allow it to heat up, then add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  4. Once the oil is shimmering, place the bacon-wrapped asparagus in the Instant Pot. You might need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Cook the wrapped asparagus for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the bacon is crispy on all sides. Use tongs to turn them gently.
  6. While the asparagus is cooking, prepare the glaze by mixing soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  7. Once all the asparagus is cooked, pour the glaze over them in the Instant Pot. Stir gently to coat each spear evenly.
  8. Close the lid of the Instant Pot and select the ‘Steam’ function. Set the timer for 3 minutes.
  9. After 3 minutes, perform a quick release of the pressure by carefully turning the valve to the venting position. Use a spoon to avoid burns.
  10. Open the lid and use tongs to carefully remove the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Transfer them to a serving plate and drizzle any remaining glaze over the top.
  11. Tip: For extra crispy bacon, you can place the bacon-wrapped asparagus under the oven broiler for an additional 2 minutes after cooking in the Instant Pot.
